Stop posting! Start working!

What caused the election results?  Your guess is as good as mine.  The major conclusion I have from reading all your posts, is that we all have ended up living in our own bubbles.   This is in part because many of us have stopped actually talking to other people.  We just post!  Its time to stop posting and start meeting, start talking.  My wife hosted a 19th ward meeting yesterday.  We had a diverse group of around 11 neighbors get together.  We talked, processed, and got some things done. We shared good news and also shared what we each do. We now have better connections.  Did we have anyone there with drastically different views, no.  But none of us see the world exactly the same way.  If you want to make a change, start getting together, talking, and working.  There is another election in 2 years.  Voting was down in the city this year.  That has to change.  Lets make that change happen. Posting and online petitions don’t make change happen.  People meeting and talking do!

One problem with Democracy is that we get complacent. During the Regan, Bush, and Bush presidencies, I was younger, but also was involved in Marches, and political engagement. I was not happy with policies and decisions and made my voice heard. During the Clinton and Obama presidencies, I wasn’t in the same way. Yes I share information, and do the basics. That is not enough. Obviously a lack of engagement and a liaise fare attitude ends, like this. If you are a Republican, its time to hold your party to its core beliefs. You control the federal government, don’t let your party destroy this great country. Encourage your party to make decisions based on our better natures. If they get off into the Alt-Right agenda, its time to take them to task. If you are a Democrat, its not time to crawl into your shell and weep for the next four years, its time to take back the house and the Senate during the mid term elections. That takes work, energy and effort. Its time to pull up our sleeves and get busy. The country has not changed dramatically over night. What we heard is pain coming from many of our neighbors. That pain motivated them to vote. We need to get liberals, centrists, and regular run of the mill conservatives back into government.We need a center right or center left government.  Republicans and Democrats need to come together for the good of this country. YOU can make this happen!
