Reflections on a birthday

It’s that time of year again.

For me, birthdays come as the earth turns colder,

long pants and long shirts,

leaves changing colors as a little gift for me.

What is a life?

is it a collection of moments lived?

Bright shiny moments strung together with string.

some moments bright as headlights,

some darker than the night.

Or is life a path.

A rambling, wandering path,

sometimes across forests, other times deserts.

I know that if you are reading this,

that we have walked along together,

your foot prints blending with mine,

Sometimes we have walked together for years,

and sometimes only for as long as it takes you to read this.

Or maybe life all occurs simultaneously,

in multiple universes,

a big bang of lives thrown out on the stars.

In some lives those we hold most dear we never touched.

At the end of the day,

what life is remains a mystery

what isn’t a mystery is that my daughter,

made me cake.

So now I am going to go eat it.

.

What are you still there?

OK since you ask,

life is what happens between the time your head first enters this world.

and the day you leave it.

You only have one life.

Got it!

So stop wasting your time,

and go live it.
